Movie Quote of the Week: Paris is Burning (1990)

"When someone has rejection from their mother and father, their family, they - when they get out in the world - they search. They search for someone to fill that void."

This is so true. I have always said that coming out as a lgbt person to unsupportive family is like a poor person choosing between bread and milk. Both sustain you, but you can’t have both. You don’t have money for both. You have to make the choice based on which will give you life. Tbh sometimes its easier to just go hungry.

That’s a bad analogy, imo. Cause people who are gay and come out to parents who are extremely homophobic end up kicked out and therefore poor. Your analogy erases that cause/effect.
